Bass-Baritone Will Earl Spanheimer came to classical voice late in life. After a childhood of being involved in music and having earned degrees from Grand Canyon University, and Baylor University he was appointed to a commission in the US Navy. He served with distinction here in the United States at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He was assigned into administration and served the medical staff in the International Travel Office. After being honorably discharged, he re-entered the civilian arena and worked as a school teacher, church musician, and frequent soloist. In 2003 he re-entered academia earning a Masters of Music in Opera/Music Theatre Performance from Arizona State University, where he was a student of Dr. Rob Barefield, further graduate degrees followed from the University of Washington and the Frost School of Music at University of Miami where he was a student of David Malis. Making his professional debut in 2006 his recent performances have included San Diego Opera, Natchez Festival of Music, Opera Theatre Lucca, Frost Opera Theatre, St. Petersburg Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Naples, St. Barths Music Festival, Opera Tampa, Miami Bach Society, and the Golden State Pops Orchestra. Recent roles in Bastien und Bastienne, Oklahoma!, The Fantasticks, Cosi fan tutte, Die Zauberflote, Don Giovanni, Rape of Lucretia, La Boheme, Falstaff, Faust, La Fanciulla del West and Amahl and the Night Visitors have given him great variety and versatility. Will Earl spent the 2008-09 season as a young artist in residence with the San Diego Opera.
